Biography
Golden Miles Bhudu, born and raised in Nigel, Gauteng, South Africa, is a prominent prisoners' rights activist. He holds a Matric and a Diploma in Analytical Chemistry. Initially aspiring to become a teacher and later a politician, Bhudu faced unemployment for two years, which led him to crime and subsequent imprisonment for ransacking a warehouse. He was sentenced to nearly seven years in prison, during which he declined parole offers to expose the harsh realities of prison life. His prison experience fueled his activism, leading him to found the South African Prisoners Organisation for Human Rights (SAPOHR) in 1988. In 2010, he started the Corrections and Civil Rights Movement (CCRM), continuing his fight for better treatment and rehabilitation of inmates in South Africa.
